MEGAMOLD EMERGENCY
FLOOD PROTECTION

A portable, resilient structure to
protect critical resources.

Our nation’s economic productivity is at stake.

A RISK MANAGEMENT STRATEGY

Over half of our nation’s economic productivity is located within coastal zones. If a major weather event were to hit one of our nation’s critical facilities, it wouldn’t just be money at risk — pollution is also a concern. Nearly 20 million people live in the vulnerable area around oil refineries, according to a report from the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Our country’s very infrastructure is threatened by major storms, influenced by climate change. Just consider the Gulf Coast region, where essential infrastructure is built at or below 4 feet of elevation, including:

  • 72% of ports
  • 27% of major roads
  • 9% of rail lines

‘TREMENDOUS RISK’

Commonly available materials that are considered “flood-resistant” are notmajor storm-resistant.” Oil refineries, which often sit on low-lying land, often use earthen materials that are not resilient to the forces created by routine environmental impacts or major storm surges.

The Union of Concerned Scientists has issued warnings about the danger:

Fossil fuel energy companies face tremendous risks from the impacts of climate change. Sea level rise and enhanced storm surge can damage or destroy coastal energy facilities, curtail production (or stop it altogether), and inundate nearby communities”.

Engineers asked. MegaMold delivered.

EMERGENCY
FLOOD PROTECTION

Encouraged by the Army Corps of Engineers’ Engineer and Research Development Center in Vicksburg, MS.

These flood gates won't open. At six feet high, MegaMold's barrier walls will hold up to unexpected and extreme events.
Stored off-site, these modules can be transported, assembled and anchored on-site quickly, abating storm damage.
