Megamold APPLICATIONS

LEVEES

  • Reduce economic and community losses due to storm based flooding
    • Protect concentrated assets
    • Protect distributed assets
    • Protect strategic assets
  • Comprehensive solutions that achieve the dual objectives of:
    – Coastal restoration
    – Hurricane protection

BRIDGES

  • The U.S. has 614,187 bridges: four in 10 of which are 50 years or older.
  • 56,007 – 9.1% of the nation’s bridges were structurally deficient in 2016.

  • Many of the Nation’s bridges are approaching the end of their design life.

  • 2017 estimates put the nations bridge rehab needs at $123 billion, now they are over $200 billion.

COASTAL EROSION

  • Already, coastal erosion costs roughly $500 million per year or coastal property loss, including damage to structures and loss of land.
  • Coastal erosion is the process by which local water levels rise, strong wave action, and coastal flooding wear down or carry away rocks, soils, and/or sands along the coastSep 13, 2019.
  • The Wave Arrestor technology is constructed of resilient material and are hollow, not disrupting underwater habitats.

EMERGENCY FLOOD PROTECTION

  • Large crude oil storage tanks in retention ponds are surrounded by rainwater left behind by Tropical Storm Harvey at ExxonMobil’s refinery in Baytown, TX.
  • Commonly available materials considered as flood-resistant are not resilient to the forces created by routine environmental impacts or major storm surges. The materials include those of dirt levees and sand bags.
